Central

Doolen Garden

Doolen Community and School Garden is located at Doolen Middle School. This garden has 24 plots, some of which are used by the students and teachers at the school. The students painted the shed with a beautiful mural, and other art created by students decorates the garden. There are also numerous native trees and plants, a few fruit trees, and an active composting system.

Near Swan and Grant

GD2 Community Garden is located at a private residence in Tucson’s Garden District. This “secret garden” is beautifully tucked away and surrounded by large trees and vines. This garden has chickens in an awesome chicken coop. The garden is small but tended by a caring group of diverse gardeners who work and learn together. Most of the 21 plots are in-ground, with a few raised beds as well.

Midtown - Near Ft Lowell and Country Club

Presidio Garden has 31 plots centrally located behind a private home. At Presidio we have a native pollinator garden built in collaboration with Sustainable Tucson, a community plot with flowers, and a shared herb garden. Parts of the garden are shaded by giant mesquites.

Keeling Community Garden is located at The Saint Germain Foundation. This community garden has 20 in-ground plots, a composting area, and a pollinator rain garden. 

Gregory School Garden

The Gregory School Garden is located on the grounds of the Gregory School, near the meeting of Tanque Verde Wash and Pantano Wash, where Native people farmed over 1000 years ago. Our garden tries to carry on this tradition with 33 plots and a mascot bird-Vermy, a Vermillion Flycatcher. Part of the garden is used by Gregory School students as part of their classwork.

Shay-Shay Community Garden is located at the Jewish Community Center. There are 23 in-ground plots. This garden has a beautiful view of the Catalina Mountains and is very close to The Loop bicycle and shared-use trail. 

Chaverim Garden

Chaverim Community Garden is located at the Chaverim Synagogue and was established in 2003. It is one of the Community Gardens of Tucson’s oldest and largest community gardens with 31 in-ground plots. What once used to be a parking lot is now a flourishing community in a garden. In 2020 we established our pollinator garden with help from the Audubon Society. Chaverim also has a very active compost system, rainwater cisterns, and a free little library.

Highland Vista Garden

Highland Vista Garden is located in a neighborhood park on the east side of town at 5300 E. 7th St. (Near Craycroft Rd). There are 15 plots, both raised and in the ground, along with a pollinator plot, community herb garden, large compost system, and picnic tables. We have community events with our quaint, creative, mix of historic and contemporary neighborhood such as poetry slams and porch concerts. 

Mary Meredith/Duffy Garden

Mary Meredith/Duffy Garden is a neighborhood garden between the Mary Meredith school and the former Duffy Elementary school. There is an active Kids in Garden program with the school. We have 16 plots, including a herb garden and pollinator plot built. We also have a fruit tree orchard with apple, peach, pomegranate, fig and quince trees, plus a sprawling grapevine. A large covered ramada with benches provides shade plus a safe place to watch the summer storms.

Mansfield Garden

Mansfield Community Garden is located at Mansfield Park and features a stunning bicycle art fence panel made by local artist Troy Neiman. The garden has active compost, and 22 plots including 3 raised beds for accessibility. Having this garden in a park allows many diverse folks from the surrounding community to enjoy the beauty and life it adds to the park.

Pio Decimo Garden

Pio Decimo Garden is a historic garden located in Barrio Santa Rosa. The tree-lined grounds are approximately 1/4 acre, and is comprised of 16 garden plots with room to grow. There are several common planting areas including: mature fruit trees, culinary herb garden, and a native pollinator garden. We hold a community work day in the garden on the first Saturday each month from 8am-noon. We welcome visitors and guests to join us at that time.

North

Ventana Vista Garden

Ventana Vista Community and School Garden is located at Ventana Vista Elementary School in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains. This garden has 24 in-ground plots, a very active composting system, vermicomposting, and a fruit tree. The students and teachers have a garden space they use for education and growing food.

Sunrise Garden

Sunrise Garden is located on the east side of the Sunrise Drive Elementary School campus protected by a high steel fence and bounded on the north by the beautiful Santa Catalina Mountains. There are 13 community garden plots, two large rain-water storage tanks and a shaded picnic table next to the garden. A unique aspect of the garden is that the community gardeners and students work in partnership in the same space and share responsibilities.

Rincon Mountain Garden

Rincon Mountain Community Garden is located at the Rincon Mountain Presbyterian Church. This scenic garden has a gorgeous view of the Santa Catalina Mountain range. It has 30 in-ground plots, two fruit trees and a pollinator plot. This garden is surrounded by the natural landscape of the Sonoran Desert. 

Southeast

New Spirit Garden

New Spirit Community Garden is located at the New Spirit Lutheran Church. New Spirit has 36 in-ground plots, a three-bin compost system, and a pollinator garden planted in partnership with the Audubon Society of Southern Arizona in 2020. The garden also has a small orchard planted in partnership with New Spirit Lutheran Church, and a communal playground area.

West

Homer Davis Garden

Homer Davis Garden is located on the grounds of Homer Davis Elementary School on the west side of town. Part of the garden is used by Homer Davis students in their educational experience. We have 20 beds, including two pollinator beds, which are heavily visited by Queen butterflies and other pollinators. We have a fig tree, pomegranate tree, and a native bee house constructed by the school children.  

Blue Moon Garden

Blue Moon Community Garden is located at Tucson House in the Barrio Blue Moon Neighborhood. This is a large garden with 36 plots. There are in-ground plots, and various sizes of raised beds to aid in more accessible gardening. There is a ramada and tile art decorating the benches in the garden. We have a native plant, pollinator, and rain garden. This garden has CGT’s first composting toilet! There is also a composting system, water cistern, and a small fruit tree orchard.
